The National Lottery Lotto draw is worth approximately £20million today (July 17) and it must be won. So if no one wins tonight’s jackpot, winners across the remaining prize tiers could see a boosted prize.

How does a Must Be Won draw work?

To win the Lotto jackpot, a player must match six main numbers.

If the jackpot isn’t won, it rolls over to the next Lotto game.

However, in a Lotto Must Be Won draw, if no one wins the jackpot there is a Rolldown.

According to the National Lottery, a Rolldown could see thousands of Lotto players win a boosted cash prize if they match two or more main numbers.

Players who match two main numbers can expect to see a £5 cash prize added to their usual Lucky Dip.

Players who match more than two main numbers can expect their prize to be boosted based on set percentages.

Changes brought in recently mean the Lotto jackpot can only roll five times rather than up to £22million, as was the case with the previous format.

How do you play Lotto?

Players must be aged 18 or over to play Lotto, and it costs £2 to play.

To play Lotto, simply pick six numbers from 1 to 59, or opt for a Lucky Dip for randomly selected numbers.

Players can choose to test their luck on a Wednesday or Saturday, or both days, then select the number of weeks they would like to play Lotto.
