M3 crash horror: 11-year-old boy dead and girl injured after family car hits barrier

Officers are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Winchester on Sunday, December 26. 

At 8.50pm, a family from Fair Oak, Eastleigh were travelling in a red Nissan Qashqai on the southbound M3.

The vehicle was on the slip road at junction 11 when it was in collision with the barrier.

A boy, aged eleven, was taken to Southampton General Hospital following the crash, where he later died.

Cops also say that the driver, a 61-year-old man, suffered serious, potentially life-changing, injuries. 

A 48-year-old woman and a 9-year-old girl suffered minor injuries.

All of the individuals were taken to Southampton General Hospital.

The family are currently being supported by specialist officers, the police said.
