A man has been found dead and his wife in critical condition at a house in the northwestern English port town of Ellesmere Port. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene after reports of a man and a woman found unconscious. An air ambulance was also seen scrambling to the address on Broxton Road, just off Woodchurch Lane on Wednesday.
Cheshire Police has confirmed a 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was rushed to the hospital by road ambulance where she remains in serious condition.
The incident is not believed to be suspicious at this time, police said, Liverpool Echo reports.
A police spokesperson said: “At around 8.40 am on Wednesday 8 March police were called to reports that two people, a man and a woman, had been found unconscious at an address on Broxton Road, Ellesmere Port.”
They continued: “Police and paramedics attended the scene and sadly a 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.
“At this time the incident is not believed to be suspicious and a case file will be prepared for the coroner.”
