Man slams Toby Carvery on Tripadvisor after wife lands hefty parking f

In a scathing review on Tripadvisor, John G, from Solihull, urged people to “avoid the establishment” after his partner faced an £85 parking charge days after dining at the place with friends. Leaving the venue with only one star, he explained his wife had visited the Toby Carvery restaurant branch in Hall Green, Birmingham, which opened last month.

His review was titled “saddled with a huge parking fine”, Birmingham Live reports. In it, John G wrote: “My wife had a perfectly enjoyable afternoon with friends.

“However, ten days later, she has been presented with an 85 pounds parking fine. Please beware of this and avoid this establishment.”

The restaurant’s assistant manager responded to the review, writing: “We’re disappointed to hear of the negative experience you had at our location. The car parking is not in place to catch any of our guests out its just in place for anyone who does unfortunate misuse it [sic].

“We will certainly do everything we can to help you with this situation and if paying in a group we would be able to find the bill on the system or even check our CCTV footage. Please kindly ask your wife to pop into us with the letter of the fine and we can get this sorted for your wife. Kind regards Scott AM.”

Despite John’s dissatisfied review, there were many other customers who were far more impressed by the restaurant. One diner wrote: “Service was 5 star, I even asked for fresh mash and they sorted it straight away! Thank you to Fred who was our server was the most attentive and chatty [sic]. Thank you made our business meeting not as boring.”

Meanwhile, another added: “Visited on Tue night and was surprised how packed it was didn’t realise that there was a voucher for 50% of mains. Managed to get table and had a lovely meal and great service from Fred who was rushed off her feet but still took time to make us feel welcome.”

Speaking about the food, one diner wrote: “Meat so tender and just melts in the mouth. Lots of veg to chooses from and the yorkies were HUGE[sic]! Excellent service provided by Fred. Looked after us very well.”

The Toby Carvery has recently undergone a £500,000 makeover.
