Marks and Spencer launches divisive savoury Easter egg ‘makes my stomach turn’

One customer accused M&S of making her “stomach turn” another called the creation “delicious”. The ‘dippy egg cheesebake’ is the latest luxury item to hit the shelves ahead of Easter. Marks and Spencer posted the image on Facebook and its received thousands of likes and shares. 

The post read: “JUST LANDED: Love cheese? Love MELTED cheese? Love WARM, MELTED cheese? You’ll really love our new dippy egg cheesebake.

“A blend of Barbers 1883 Cheddar, soft cheese and crème fraîche with a Red Leicester centre that looks like an egg yolk. Pick up this cracking cheesy creation in store now.” 

M&S fans were quick to share their opinion online. 

So far, the image has received 11k comments and 4.7k reactions.

One Facebook user wrote: “Omg this looks amazing def getting this.”

Another said: “Oh my……… got to get this looks delicious.”

A third commented: “Cheese with cheese and extra cheese, yes please.” 

Another happy customer added: “This is amazing M&S always producing the best products.”

While a fourth joked: “Omg thankfully we can’t get deliveries to Brisbane Australia. I would be in heaven and the size of a house.” 

Generally, the feedback was positive. But not everyone was impressed by the new product. 

One person commented: “Oh god I hate cheese the look of that makes my stomach turn.”

Another critic said: “Why is it called dippy egg cheese bake but contains no egg? Ridiculous”

A third wrote: “NO NO NO NO NO Why does cheese have to go on everything !!!!!!!!!!”

A fourth added: “Not my cup of tea, but someone who will love it!!!!”

Easter is celebrated on Sunday 4 April this year – so there’s still plenty of time to stock up on goodies. 

The new ‘dippy egg cheesebake’ is available to buy in M&S stores or online via Ocado for £5.
