Meghan and Harry ’emerge as winners’ after breaking royal ties in unprecedented move

Meghan Markle and Harry have ‘emerged winners’ says expert

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were able to end 2020 “on a high” according to royal expert Katie Nicholl. She has also revealed how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new business endeavours since breaking from the Royal Family have seen them come through a “very challenging year.”

Ms Nicholl told ET: “So I think when you look back at what has been a very challenging year for everyone but also Meghan and Harry, actually they have emerged as winners.

“They sealed the deal with Netflix with Spotify, they launched their new website all by the end of the year.

“We heard more of the real them I think than perhaps we have ever heard in their holiday podcast special and so I think that marked the close of 2020 on a high for them.”

The royal commentator added the lucrative deals had set the Duke and Duchess of Sussex up for an “exciting” future.

“I think the general feeling is that the couple is sticking to the terms of the agreement.”

“Everything that they are doing is keeping with that tone of respect towards the establishment and the monarchy.

“The general consensus is that this divorce has worked,” continued Ms Nicholls.

“Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left the Royal Family to become independent and financially independent and they have absolutely achieved that this year.

Meghan and Harry have repeatedly insisted that they wish to have a more private life, and that was the reason for their stepping down as senior royals at the end of March 2020.

They now live in Montecito, California.

The couple is reported to have made more than £200million since they left the UK by what critics say amounts to trading on their royal links.

They are due to produce content for streaming services Netflix and Spotify as well as continuing work on their charitable organisation.
