Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were given only weeks to vacate Frogmore Cottage, it has been claimed. Following a back and forth between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Buckingham Palace, the California-based pair were allowed to retain access to the property until after the Coronation of King Charles. But the monarch had initially hoped to have had this issue solved earlier than that, a source has claimed. They told The Sun: “Charles wanted to start after his Coronation with the issues of Harry and Meghan and Andrew put to bed.
The situation has dragged on far too long and he wanted to act decisively and quickly.” As reported on Wednesday, King Charles let Meghan and Harry know about his decision to pass on what has been their official residence in the UK since 2019 to another person days after the publication of the Duke’s memoir, Spare. The King’s plan is believed to involve Prince Andrew, who is reportedly seeing his subsidy being cut by the monarch amid a spending overhaul and may need to relocate to a smaller residence than the Royal Lodge. A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry confirmed on Wednesday evening the Sussexes “have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage”.
