Last month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they are expecting their second child. During the couple’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan and Harry confirmed they will be having a girl. Royal fans and commentators have speculated what name the Sussexes will choose to give their new baby when she arrives.

Royal biographer Angela Levin weighed in on the debate and claimed the couple “would love” to call the child Diana.

Speaking to the Mirror, she said: “I’m sure they will call her Diana.

“I think Harry would love that, and Meghan would be very proud because she would bring Diana close to him.”

However, a source told Page Six why it is “highly unlikely” that Meghan and Harry will call their child after the late Princess of Wales.

The source claimed: “They are highly unlikely to call their daughter Diana.

“Their biggest concern is that it would make her a bigger target for the media and considerably increase public interest in the child’s life.

“Whatever anybody thinks, Harry and Meghan do value their privacy and want to shield their children from the intense media pressure they have endured.”

The source also said the Sussexes “fear” the name Diana “would place too much pressure on the child and make everything difficult, from enrolling her in school to travel. And they want her to find her own way in life”.

The insider added: “They might consider Diana as a middle name, but Princess Charlotte already has Diana as a middle name, and Harry and Meghan have not enjoyed the feeling they have been compared to — and pitted against — William and Kate in the media and by the Palace.”

Meghan and Harry stepped back as senior members of the Royal Family to lead a financially independent life with their baby son Archie.

The Sussexes relocated to the US last March and are currently living in Montecito, California.

Prince Harry told Oprah he first felt “amazing” after learning he would be having a daughter with Meghan.

During the interview, he added: “Just grateful. To have any child, any one or any two, would have been amazing.

“But to have a boy and then a girl, I mean, what more can you ask for?

“Now we’ve got our family, we’ve got the four of us and our two dogs.”

The Duchess told Oprah that her most important title is ‘mum’.

Meghan said: “I’ve been a waitress, an actress, a princess, a Duchess… and the most important title I’ll ever have is mom.”

The tell-all Oprah interview aired in the UK on Monday 8 March on ITV.
