Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, received a “peace offering” from Meghan Markle following their fallout ahead of the royal wedding in 2018. According to royal biographer Andrew Morton, the American actress gave a few of her closest friends, including Kate, a gold bracelet as a sign of appreciation for their “help and support” in the lead up to her highly publicised wedding to Prince Harry.
In the latest edition of his book ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’, Andrew Morton wrote: “The spat concerning the bridesmaids’ outfits now behind them, Meghan had since given Kate and her six closest friends gold bracelets designed by Californian jeweller Lisette Polny as a thank-you for their help and support.”
“It was an elegant peace offering, both women professional enough to know that there was no gain in showing dissent or disdain.”
The gift followed a dispute that occurred during a flower girl dress fitting.
Princess Charlotte, the only daughter of Prince William and Kate, was one of the flower girls in the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan.
During the Sussexes explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Meghan spoke of her rumoured rift with Kate.
She claimed that Kate had been the one to make her cry in the lead up to the royal wedding, and not the other way around.
This story had been inaccurately reported by the British press at the time.
The Duchess of Sussex claimed that Kensington Palace refused to intervene with the story and correct the press, calling it the beginning of “a real character assassination”.
Kate Middleton can 'relax' without Meghan claims Levin
She told Oprah: “The narrative with Kate, which didn’t happen, that’s when everything changed.
“She was upset about something, she apologised, she owned it.
“A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining—yes, the issue was correct about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry and it really hurt my feelings.
“And I thought in the context of everything else that was going on in those days leading to the wedding that it didn’t make sense to not be just doing what everyone else was doing, which was try to be supportive, knowing what was going on with my dad and whatnot.”
Meghan later stated that the Duchess of Cambridge was “a good person” and that she had dropped by with flowers and a note to apologise.

She also spoke of the supposed rivalry between the Duchesses that was played on in the press, saying: “I think so much of what I have seen play out was this idea of polarity where if you love me you don’t have to hate her, and if you love her, you don’t need to hate me.”
The two women have not seen each other since Meghan completed her final royal engagements in March 2020.
She and Prince Harry had announced in January that they would be stepping down from the Royal Family and would be relocating to North America.
Since then, the couple have settled in Montecito, California, with their two young children, Archie Harrison, and Lilibet Diana.
