Meghan Markle and Harry Megxit review ‘called off’ as there’s ‘no need’ to meet Queen

Meghan Markle and Harry: Palace may want ‘more control’ says expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals more than a year ago and the exit deal they reached with Queen Elizabeth II, 94, was due to be reviewed in March. The review was expected to assess whether or not the couple could keep their HRH styles and Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles going forward, however a royal insider has claimed there is “no need” for it to take place.

Megxit review ‘cancelled’

Vanity Fair royal correspondent Katie Nicholl told True Royalty TV’s Royal Beat the one-year review was unlikely to go ahead.

She said: “My understanding from the Sussexes camp is that there has been communication with the Queen, Prince Charles and with William as well.

“The general feeling is that this [current situation] is working.

She added: “This isn’t to say that people are not watching closely what these deals are, what the couple are doing and what these projects are going to be.

“But there is not this need to have this review one year on.”

Meghan Markle, 39, and Prince Harry, 36, declared their wish to step down as senior royals last January.

Since then, they have moved to the USA and made Santa Barbara, California their home.

The Sussexes have held onto their royal status despite no longer serving the crown, however, their recent activity has prompted some to questions whether or not they have breached royal values.

Royal Family members are meant to remain politically neutral and Meghan and Harry ruffled feathers ahead of the US election by encouraging Americans to vote.

While some felt Meghan and Harry overstepped the mark, they did not explicitly align themselves with one political party in the lead up to the US vote.

The couple agreed with the Queen that they would not use the word ‘royal’ in conjunction with their work going forward and wound down their Sussex Royal Foundation following their withdrawal.

Meghan and Harry have begun to carve out a life for themselves away from the Royal Family and have gained financial independence from the Firm.

The couple have signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify and released the first episode of their Archewell podcast at the start of the year.
