Meghan Markle has often been compared to the late Princess Diana due to her status as a fashion icon and her commitment to charity work. But a series of controversial choices have forced the Duchess of Sussex to face growing criticism from the public which could put at risk her legacy, according to former friend Lizzie Cundy. Speaking to 60 Minutes, the TV personality insisted Meghan should change her attitude if she wants to become “the next Princess Diana,” in the Royal Family.
Ms Cundy said: “I’m not a jilted friend, I promise. I’m not a jilted friend at all.
“But I feel they could do things so much better. I don’t think you can lecture about the planet and then take four private jets.
“I wanted her to be the next Princess Diana, I still think she still can be. But Princess Diana was about everyone else and it appears Meghan is about Meghan a lot of the time.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been heavily criticised for comments warning about human impact on the environment only to later travelling to Europe on four private jets within 11 days.

Ms Cundy met the now-Duchess of Sussex during her first visit to the UK when then-Meghan Markle still worked as an actress for TV show Suits.
The TV personality said the pair grew close and hanged out together, with Ms Cundy allegedly introducing Meghan to potential boyfriends while she stayed in London.
She continued: “She was single and was kind of looking for a guy. She loved England, she said she wanted a boyfriend, a celebrity boyfriend.
“Never in my wildest dreams I would ever think she’d end up marrying Prince Harry. I think Meghan changed to a girl that maybe was more manipulative and doing what Meghan wants to do. I kind of saw a different side.”

While the Duchess of Sussex never met her late mother-in-law, several parallels have been drawn between Meghan and Diana since the American actress joined the Royal Family.
Both Meghan and Diana used their position as royals to draw attention to causes close to their hearts but the Duchess has recently been criticised as being too vocal about her support.
In August it was announced she had guest-edited the September issue of fashion magazine Vogue, choosing to feature 15 female trailblazers on the cover rather than appearing herself on the front page.
Members of the public questioned her decision as one of the figures included environmentalist Greta Thunberg and the publication also featured an interview Prince Harry conducted with conservationist Dr Jane Goodall during which the Duke voiced his concerns about the future of the planet.

Palace insider Patrick Jepshon suggested Meghan should take a leaf out of Diana’s book and “discipline” herself to remain professionally detached from the causes she embraces.
Mr Jephson said: “Princess Diana of course was a lot younger throughout her royal career than Meghan is now.
“But what I noticed with her is that she had a very shrewd instinct about what looked good and what didn’t.
“She had an extraordinary understanding that for her to be successful as a princess she had to be very disciplined – she had to do her own preparation work.
“She had to be very professional in how she ran her public life but she also had to understand what people expected and she knew that most of what royal people do is visual.”
Mr Jephson added: “I would say Meghan needs to look at two legacies – the legacy of the Queen and I think she should study, really study her mother-in-law’s life, her work, how she worked, how she chose her causes, why they worked, why things that she did resonate with ordinary British people.”
