The US attorney and politician serving as the representative for New York’s 17th congressional district since 2021 tweeted: “Meghan Markle is bringing down an entire empire tonight, and I’m here for it.” New York congressman Mondaire Jones posted the tweet in the early hours of Monday morning and labels himself as also an attorney and activist on his Twitter biography. However, one of the citizens he represents responded to the tweet saying, “Mr Jones you are my representative.
“I voted for you and I agree that the monarchy is no longer necessary but the whole gossipy situation is too silly for you to be wasting your time with.”
One more follower of Mr Jones said: “As a United States government representative, are you suggesting, an American citizen take down the Royal family, the official Head of State of the United Kingdom?”
Many in the US have celebrated the event as a watershed moment to tackle Britain’s imperial past.
Writing in the Washington Post US journalist Karen Attiah said: “Ghana celebrated its independence from Britain yesterday.
“Harry and Meghan speak out on Oprah today.
“Feeling the anti-colonial ancestral energy this weekend.
“Let the imperial tea be spilt!”

However, the social media sphere has erupted with the interview’s many bombshell revelations.

“I just generally don’t like England that much.
“It’s nice to be away from all the press and the papers and all the sh** that they write.”
