Meghan Markle row: Fearful Duchess’ mother reveals true feelings after family split

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sparked worldwide news after revealing their desire to stand down from senior Royal Family duties. On Monday, Prince Harry – Meghan’s husband – met with Prince William, Charles and the Queen to discuss the decision. A decision was made to allow Harry and Meghan to move on with their life.

This led Ms Ragland to express her delight with friends at the move.

An insider explained that Ms Ragland was “really worried about Meghan”.

They added that she was “relieved her daughter is putting her mental health and wellbeing first”.

According to The Sun, another friend of Meghan’s said: “This was her [Meghan’s] plan all along, to eventually leave the UK and build her own empire with Harry.

“Doria is very much about being true to oneself and so of course she will continue to encourage Meghan to take the road less travelled.”

It comes after Prince William met with his father, grandmother and brother Prince Harry to discuss the ongoing crisis engulfing the Royal Family.

Last week, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced they would be withdrawing from senior Royal Family life.

But following the crisis meeting, a compromise had appeared to be reached.

In a statement, the Queen said: “My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family.

“Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.

“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.”

On LBC, Ken Wharfe, a former protection officer to the Royal Family, explained he once overheard Harry make a shock admission to William.

He recalled on the programme that Harry, then four years old, teased William when they were in the car together travelling from London to Gloucester.

Mr Wharfe said the incident happened around 30 years ago.

He explained the pair had been locked in an argument for most of the journey.

Mr Wharfe continued: “I had the privilege of working with his mother, William and Harry and many other members of the Royal Family.

“I remember a moment of Harry as a four-year-old, travelling down to Gloucester one weekend.

“He and his brother had an argument in the back seat of the car being refereed by the nanny.

“And in the end, Harry said: ‘You’ll be king one day, I won’t. Therefore I can do what I want!’

“Diana said ‘Where the hell did he get that from?’”
