Eagle-eyed royal fans spotted the Middleton’s via a post on social media – as they were shocked to see them among the 140-guests in attendance.

One fan took to Twitter: “Wow. Personal friends of the Jordanian Royal Family. I had no idea the Wales’ extended family on Catherine’s side were invited. Impressive.”

William and Kate, who were among the first to offer their congratulations to the happy couple, joined world leaders, Kings and Queens, and US First Lady Jill Biden among around 150 guests at the Islamic marriage ceremony in the garden of the Zahran Palace in the Jordanian capital.

William’s cousin, Princess Beatrice was also present – joined by her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The wedding was also attended by Royal Family members from around the world, including King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, King Philippe of Belgium, and Australian-born Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and her husband Crown Prince Frederik.

King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan proudly watched as their Sandhurst-educated son, Hussein, 28, a captain in the Jordanian Armed Forces, was married in military uniform with a gold-hilted sabre to Rajwa in a gazebo in the palace garden.

The pair married in a traditional ceremony known as a “katb ktab” and conducted by the Royal Hashemite Court Imam Dr Ahmed Al Khalaileh.

William and Kate flew to Amman on Thursday to attend the wedding, the biggest royal event in Jordan, a key ally of Britain in the Middle East, for 30 years. William has developed a good friendship with the Crown Prince, bonding over their mutual love of football, and both he and Kate are fond of Jordan.

Kate, who wore a blush pink lace dress also by Elie Saab to the wedding, lived in Amman for a few years with her family when she was child.

Kate and William returned with their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – on a family holiday in 2021.

‌On Thursday, huge crowds lined the streets after the wedding to see the newlyweds drive through the capital in a white custom Range Rover escorted by several bright red Land Rovers, 11 motorcycles and a military marching band.

Kate and William’s attendance surprised royal fans – with their presence only being announced a few hours prior to the ceremony.

Like Kate and William, the Middletons, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo’s appearance was also not aannounced.

Unlike the royals and Middletons, the US First Lady Jill Biden’s attendance was announced earlier this week.
