A man has been arrested after a woman dissapeared while walking her dog – as the pet was found on a beach by police.
Claire Knights, 54, was last seen on Wednesday morning walking her dog in the village of Upstreet, near Canterbury, Kent.
While Ms Knights disappeared, her dog was later found on the coast nearby.
Kent Police are treating the woman’s disappearance as suspicious, and have confirmed this evening that a man in his 20s has been arrested.
Detectives on the case claim Ms Knights’ disappearance is “entirely out of character”.
