The Prince of Wales visited hydrogen fuel-powered car company Riversimple in Llandrindod Wells, central Wales when he hopped in the futuristic car. Charles, a lifelong environmental campaigner appeared totally encapsulated by the experience as he whizzed off in a bright green car from the future.

Prince Charles heard how the car, known as the Rasa, emits nothing but pure water vapour.

The lifelong environmental campaigner also spoke at length with the engineers behind the car’s design.

Alongside the zero-carbon emissions, engineers explained how the car is designed to also minimise the particulates from tyres and brakes with its light bodyweight and skinny tyres.

While the high regenerative braking also reduces nasty pollutants from entering the earth’s atmosphere.

The two-seater car has an astonishing range of 300 miles before needing a refuel of hydrogen fuel cells.

Riversimple say the Rasa model is ‘light to handle, responsive and fun to drive’.

They also claim it can reach 0-60mph in ‘9.7 seconds’.

Prince Charles is seen totally enthralled as the engineers explained the in’s and outs of the car’s design before he was invited for a test drive.

Jumping into the car which has butterfly doors which open upwards, Prince Charles face beams with excitement.

The Prince of Wales is then seen whizzing off in the green coloured car from the future as he drives alongside a member of staff.

He can then be seen whizzing back to the factory following his test drive.

In reference to his age, the Prince can be heard joking “not as easy when you get older!” as he emerges from the cockpit of the fancy motor.

The Rasa is the first of a range of vehicles that Riversimple plans to offer customers.

Riversimple are currently building Rasas for trials with the general public which could change the face of greenhouse gas emitting petrol and diesel cars.

Prince Charles’ visit to the hydrogen car company follows a recent visit to the Mini cars factory in Oxford in June where he announced his delight at the birth of granddaughter Lilibet, the second child of Harry and Meghan.

The future kings’ visit is part of a series of engagements that he is undertaking in Wales this week.
