Alicia Kearns told LBC that the family dispute that has played out in front of the world is a sad state of affairs for the monarchy. The Tory MP added that Britain must not let the Americanised soap-opera narrative become the focus of the Royal Family.
Ms Kearns said: “I think this has been a really sad state of affairs and I think anyone who has watched the Harry and Meghan interview just leaves with that sense of sadness.
“This is ultimately a family dispute playing out for the world to see.
“I think what it has really shown is that to America, the Royal Family is nothing more than another soap-opera.
“Whereas to us, it is our Royal Family.”
The Conservative MP added: “I think really the whole country feels saddened and we do need to move on from this point.
“And not let an Americanised, nation with soap-operas turn our Royal Family into one and become that focus.”
