Royal commentator Tina Brown reflected on what Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s confessions mean for the monarchy. While speaking on CBS This Morning, Ms Brown argued Oprah Winfrey’s interview of the two Sussexes was “kryptonite” for the Royal Family. She added the interview would likely go down in history in the same way Princess Diana’s Panorama interview did.

She noted the claims against the Royal Family were also difficult to refute.

Ms Brown said: “It is kryptonite, this is a hand grenade that has been thrown into the heart of the institution.

“It is immensely damaging and I really think it is extremely hard for them to refute a lot of the things that Meghan and Harry said.

“They issued a statement that this will recede into the mists of time, I don’t think so.

“I think we are going to be talking about this interview for 20 years.

“Let us all bow down to the real Queen here, Oprah, what an extraordinary interview that was.

“It was just for the history books.”

The Royal commentator then noted the similarities between this interview and Princess Diana’s.

Ms Brown noted there were some key differences between the Meghan Markle situation and Diana’s.

Ms Brown said: “I think the echoes of Diana in this whole situation is extraordinary.

“Once again, Princess Diana married a dream and it turned out to be the Scream.

“It is the same with Meghan, the interview Diana did was also explosive.

“There were differences, however, Princess Diana was really a child when she married Charles.”

Ms Brown admitted she was questioning Meghan’s lack of preparedness for her role as a member of the Royal Family, however.

She said: “I have only one questions that I really have for Meghan.

“What kind of misunderstanding did she have about joining the Royal Family?

“As an actress, you would assume she would prepare for the role.”
