Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William released a video of their family spending time together to mark their 10th wedding anniversary on Thursday. The royal couple thanked their supporters for the love shown to them and their three children over the years, and for the messages of congratulations received in recent days. But commentator Owen Jones dismissed the video as a “PR offensive” resulting from the bombshell interview Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave to Oprah Winfrey in March.

Mr Jones said: “I know I’m in a minority when it comes to the monarchy. All I’d say is, I can see why they might be on a PR offensive at the moment.”

Host Jeremy Vine appeared puzzled at the assertion, saying: “Oh, let’s think. Because, because, because…Yeah, because of Meghan and Harry.”

Mr Jones said: “Yeah, because of Meghan Markle. Look, if you look at the polling it’s quite interesting because there’s very large support for the monarchy.

“But among younger people, it’s much, much lower and among 18 to 24 year-olds, there’s very big support for the republic. It’s also true among ethnic minorities.”

In the video, Kate and William can be seen sheltering from the wind behind a sand dune of a beach in Norfolk.

Glimpses of the couple sharing devoted glances can be seen interspersed with footage of the couple’s three children playing around on the beach and the family’s country pile, Anmer Hall.

Prince George, 7, is seen looking pensively at the sea while mum Kate and dad William listen delighted at their youngest son, Prince Louis, 2, as he speaks.

Princess Charlotte, who will be turning 6 on Sunday, can be seen running around with her brothers and later sharing a playful moment with the Duke of Cambridge in the family’s garden.

Alongside the clip, the royal couple wrote: “Thank you to everyone for the kind messages on our wedding anniversary.

“We are enormously grateful for the 10 years of support we have received in our lives as a family. W & C.”

The video, which offers a rare insight into the Cambridges’ private daily life, sparked a frenzy among royal supporters.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are normally very private about their children and are very mindful of the information and pictures released of the young royals.

Over the years, Kate has maintained a tight hold over George, Charlotte and Louis’ images and has been using her love of photography to take charge of birthday photoshoots for all three of the children.

Selected pictures of the royals are released to mark special occasions, with Prince Louis’ 2nd birthday celebrations becoming the latest in the series.

The young royal could be seen grinning proudly as he stood on his red bike wearing his nursery uniform.

Last year, Kate chose to send a special message of support to the NHS as the birthday snaps showed Louis after a finger-painting session with his hands painted the colour of the rainbow.
