Following the 2007 break up between Prince William and Kate, Pippa Middleton reportedly played a “large role” in helping the two exes rekindle their relationship. The future king decided to split from Kate following five years of dating, with Kate turning to her younger sister for advice and companionship before the couple reconciled. Her support was clearly appreciated, as four years later, she became Maid of Honour at their wedding in 2011.
A royal source told Showbiz CheatSheet: “Kate didn’t handle things well.
“But it was her younger sister Pippa who helped her pick up the pieces and ended up playing a large role in the exes rekindling their relationship.”
Celebrity website The List also reported: “Pippa reportedly encouraged her sister to get out and hit the town, distracting her from the devastating break up.
“The photos of their fun-filled nights reportedly got back to William, who was allegedly sad to see his ex living lige without him.”
Prince William and Kate had first met in 2001 at St Andrews’ University, where they were both students in residence at St Salvator’s Hall.
The two became close friends, and even lived together during their second year of university before embarking on a romantic relationship.
Their relationship became public knowledge after they were photographed on a skiing holiday together in 2004, and in 2006, she attended the wedding ceremony of the Duchess of Cornwall’s daughter.
She was also photographed at Prince William’s passing out parade at Sandhurst and was photographed with Prince Harry’s then-girlfriend Chelsy Davy at a polo match.

However, in 2007, the press reported that the couple had separated due to Prince William’s reluctance to commit to a serious relationship.
During their 2010 engagement interview, Prince William told journalist Tom Bradby: ” We were both very young. It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up so it was just a bit of space, and it worked out for the better.”
The Duchess of Cambridge also spoke out about the split, saying: “At the time I wasn’t very happy about it, but it actually made me a stronger person.
“You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realized. I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger, and I really valued that time for me as well although I didn’t think it at the time.”
Shortly after their split, Kate was photographed with sister Pippa enjoying the Chelsea nightlife, visiting nightclubs such as Mahiki, Raffles and Mamilanji on the King’s Road.

However, the couple reconciled within a year, and were spotted vacationing together at Klosters in 2008.
They announced their engagement in November 2010, with Prince William proposing to Kate in Kenya with Princess Diana’s former wedding ring.
In their highly-publicised wedding at Westminster Abbey, Pippa stepped out in front of her sister to lead the flower girls and page boys down the aisle.
She remains a member of the Cambridges inner circle, and has accompanied her sister to Wimbledon and recently vacationed with the couple in the south of France for James Middleton’s wedding.
Prince William and Kate celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary in April of this year, and share three children together; Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
