Plane crash horror: Emergency team scrambled as aircraft plunges from sky– area closed off

West Mercia Police are on the scene, near Leominster, with the airfield currently closed. Firefighters and paramedics are also in attendance.

A call was received by West Midlands Ambulance Service  at10.07am although there are not yet any reports of injuries.

West Mercia Police said: “A single engine, fixed wing light aircraft came down at 10.30am today at Shobdon Airfield, Leominster, Herefordshire.

“Emergency services, including police, air ambulance & fire and rescue are attending.

“The incident is contained and there is no danger to the wider public.”

A sign on the entrance to the airfield site said “due to unforeseen circumstances” the airfield was temporarily closed.
