The victim was found stabbed with his pet dog tied up near to him.

Thames Valley Police said the injured man was in his 30s, and was lying on the ground in Baylis Park, near the centre of Slough, just before 1am on Monday morning.

He had sustained a stab wound to his chest, and was receiving hospital treatment for this wound as well as other injuries to his face and head.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police spokesperson said he is in a stable condition in hospital.

Police confirmed that two men had been arrested in connection with the attack.

A 26-year-old man from Slough was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 23-year-old man from Amersham has been detained on suspicion of assisting an offender, reports BuckinghamshireLive.

Detective Inspector Emily Evans said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information about what happened to please come forward.

“I’d also ask any motorists who were around Baylis Park to check any dash-cam footage in case it may have captured anything that could assist the investigation.

“Anyone with information can contact police by making a report online, quoting reference 43210572127.

“Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.”

Detective Inspector Evans continued: “Understandably, this incident will cause concern in the local community, however we are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this assault.
