Prince Andrew branded the ‘most dangerous’ member of the Royal Family

Prince Andrew made ‘profound error’ meeting Epstein says Rellie

Prince Andrew’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein makes him the “most dangerous” member of the Royal Family, according to a royal author.

The Duke of York has been mired in scandal ever since he opened up about his friendship with the convicted sex offender in a no-holds-barred interview for BBC’s Newsnight in 2019.

During the sit-down interview with Emily Maitlis, Andrew strenuously denied the accusation that he sexually assaulted Virginia Giuffre when she was 17 at the behest of Epstein after she was trafficked into the UK. Andrew has repeatedly and vehemently denied this claim ever since.

Last year, Ms Giuffre, 40, reached an out-of-court settlement with Queen Elizabeth II’s second son in a US civil case that she issued against him after the judge rejected the prince’s bid to win early dismissal of the lawsuit.

Despite the settlement, Andrew’s connection with the disgraced financier still casts a long shadow over the family, claims Clive Irving, author of The Last Queen and royal columnist at The Daily Beast.

“There’s always this sense that more is going to come out about how close he was to Epstein,” the royal biographer told Daily Express US, adding: “I think he’s the most dangerous of the Royal Family.”

He continued: “I think that the problem with Andrew is that the Epstein phantom won’t go away, but it’s going to come back and bite him because there are lots of people still investigating that relationship.”

Indeed, the Duke’s friendship with Epstein remains a source of intense public interest.

A new US documentary takes a closer look at Andrew’s now-infamous interview with Ms Maitlis.

The new doc, entitled ‘Secrets of Prince Andrew’, examines the decisions that led to Andrew’s sit-down interview that spectacularly backfired.

In Mr Irving’s opinion, Andrew’s connection to Epstein “has done more lasting damage than anything that Harry and Meghan Markle could do”.

He is referring to the Sussexes tell-all campaign since stepping down as royals, which has sought to expose the inner workings of royal life.

Notwithstanding the optics, there are signs Andrew is being welcomed back into the royal fold.

The Duke was spotted taking part in a royal engagement at Balmoral on Sunday.

The Royal Family gathered for a church service as they enjoyed their first summer break at the estate since the Queen spent her final days there before her death a year ago.

King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed Prince William and Princess Kate – sitting in the back as her husband drove – Prince Edward and Sophie, and outcast Andrew.

Several sources have since made clear that the outing does not hail the Duke’s return to public engagements.

Andrew was stripped of the majority of his titles and stepped back from royal duties due to the scandal over his friendship with Epstein.
