Every year to mark the festive period, members of the Royal Family release a royal Christmas card. The greeting typically includes a new photograph but also a sweet message for warm wishes for the year ahead.

Royal watchers have been keeping an eagle eye on the official social media pages of the royals in hope of catching a glimpse at this year’s Christmas card snap.

In recent years, the image for the Cambridges’ card has included all members of the family – often in more relaxed clothing you’d typically see from their public engagements.

Often, eight-year-old Prince George, six-year-old Princess Charlotte and three-year-old Prince Louis are only spotted out and about on very few occasions.

Typically, many of the images seen of the young royals have been shared by their mother, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, to mark milestones such as their birthday.

In the approach to Christmas, a new picture of the youngest members of the Cambridge clan could be shared very soon for the family’s annual Christmas card.

In 2020, Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, both 39, were joined by all three children in the festive greeting.

The heartwarming snap featured George, Charlotte and Louis alongside their smiling parents.

The image showed the family sitting on a bale of hay, in front of a stack of chopped wood.

Taken by photographer Matt Porteous, the image shows the Cambridges’ youngest child Prince Louis pulling a cheeky face.

While Princess Charlotte, who is sitting on Kate’s knee, wears a festive jumper.

The message inside the card reads: “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year.”

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall also released a Christmas card photograph last year.

The royal couple were shown at their home in Birkhall in Aberdeenshire.

The photo of Camilla and Charles was taken by a member of their staff and shows them sitting on a bench amid a vibrant coloured flower garden.

In 2019’s Christmas card, William sits astride a vintage motorbike, with Kate at his side and the kids around him.

The family photo gave the impression of a relaxed weekend in the country.

While for 2018’s Christmas card, the Cambridges family also appeared in full in a homely style shot.

The image, again taken by Matt Porteous, shows the five royals sitting on a tree in the grounds of Anmer Hall.

Matt Porteous has captured other special moments for the Cambridges, including an image shared to mark Mother’s Day in 2020.

The Duchess of Cambridge shared a snap of her and her husband giving piggyback rides to their two older children in Norfolk, on Kensington Palace’s Instagram.
