Just like families around the country, members of the Royal Family have been holed up for the most part of the coronavirus lockdown. It has allowed Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, to spend precious time with their three children, Prince George, 7 Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2. And, just like around the country, the eldest two have had to be homeschooled while their fee-paying Thomas’s Battersea school was closed from March through to the summer.

George and Charlotte are at different stages in school.

It is something that Kate said had been a difficult pill to swallow for George, during her appearance on ITV’s This Morning earlier this year.

When co-presenter Holly Willoughby asked about the “challenge” of homeschooling children of varying ages, Kate divulged George’s jealousy over Charlotte’s fun projects.

She explained: “Yeah, it’s so true (that it’s a challenge).

“Actually, George gets very upset because he just wants to do all of Charlotte’s projects.

“Like making sort of spider sandwiches is far cooler than doing literacy work.”

While Charlotte began school last year, George had been attending Thomas’s since 2017.

Pictures from Charlotte’s first day filled reports around the world, as her brother accompanied her alongside William and Kate.

In many pictures, Charlotte can be seen shying away from her new teacher.

Later on, snaps show her offering a hesitant handshake to the very same teacher.

The country has closely followed the three Cambridge children throughout their short lives.

Access to the family has thus been extremely intimate.

Such was the nature of their public life that reports emerged of Charlotte’s alleged first words in public in 2016.

It came while the Princess was at a children’s party in Canada.

She was just four months old when she was caught on camera shouting “pop!” when she saw balloons.

Later, she was filmed saying “da da” as William cuddled her.

The party, as part of the family’s royal visit to Canada before the birth of Louis, saw the four travel to various spots around the Commonwealth nation.

Not wanting to be left out, George, then three, ran over when he spotted a balloon animal being made for his little sister.

“But I want one, can I have one?” he was heard saying to Kate.
