Prince George, seven, looked very grown-up as he accompanied his dad Prince William, 39, and mum Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 39, to Wembley for two of England’s Euro 2020 appearances. The young prince dressed like his father in a mini suit and tie during both appearances.
Footage of George celebrating England’s goal against Italy in the Euro 2020 final melted hearts on social media and was widely shared.
Royal fans are hoping to be treated to a new picture of George as he celebrates his birthday later this month.
George will be eight years old on July 22 and is likely to celebrate the special day in private with his family.
Kate is a keen amateur photographer, and since having children has made it something of a tradition to take their official birthday portraits to share with the public.
Already this year, the Duchess has shared new photos of Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three, on their special days and she is expected to do the same for George.
While dozens praised George’s recent appearances at football games, the young royal was also victim to some vile abuse from internet trolls which has prompted speculation Kate and William will keep him out of the spotlight going forward.
Royal expert and commentator Robert Jobson said: “With George, he got quite a lot of social media attention.
“Some were critical about him wearing a shirt and tie like his dad, which I thought was very harsh.”
He added: “He has been very popular, but I think they are going to try and keep him out of the limelight a little bit.”
“They are very conscious of that. The pictures were great with his dad when he was celebrating for that all too brief moment.”
Ahead of George’s birthday, some royal fans have expressed fears the Cambridges might not share a photo this year because of the abuse their son got.
One Twitter user wrote: “Following the recent criticism and hateful comments on Prince George, I won’t be surprised if William and Catherine don’t publish a new picture for his 8th birthday next Thursday.”

Another put: “Because of angry hung up creeps like this we will probably get to see less of Prince George…though hopefully, we will get another photo on his birthday.”
George and Charlotte are both pupils at Thomas’s Battersea in London and broke up on July 9 for the summer holidays.
While the Cambridges are based at Kensington Palace during term time, they usually spend the holidays at their Norfolk home Anmer Hall.
They may have travelled there following Sunday’s football match and be enjoying the chance to get some country air.
Kate and William are hands-on parents and both keen advocates of outdoors play.
The Cambridge children have the run of the gardens at Anmer Hall and Kate has previously shared adorable pictures of them playing there.
How will George celebrate his birthday?
George could celebrate his eighth birthday with as many people as he wishes as the milestone falls after England’s lockdown restrictions are lifted entirely on July 19.
However, the young prince is unlikely to have a blowout bash and will probably celebrate with his parents, siblings, grandparents Michael and Carole Middleton, and a few school pals.
