Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are hoping to establish themselves within the “philanthropy world” through their organisation Archewell, according to a royal commentator. Since leaving the Royal Family in 2020, the couple have signed a multi-million-pound deal with streaming giant Netflix and have announced a number of projects that focus on female empowerment and social justice. Royal expert Nick Bullen said the Sussexes would need to “generate huge amounts of money” in order to build and maintain their reputation as world leaders.
Nick Bullen, the co-founder and editor of True Royalty TV told Fox News: “Clearly they’re making their voices heard in the philanthropy world.
“We’ve been hearing that Meghan is keen for some sort of form of political office.
“I don’t think they’re necessarily courting the celebrity world as one might think. But at the same time, it’s going to cost a lot of money to fund their new lives.
“And I think that’s the big thing now – how are they going to generate huge amounts of money to do what they want to do both personally and professionally?
“How will they do that without relying on their royal statuses?”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched their non-profit organisation Archewell in 2020, after it was made clear to them that they could not continue with their foundation Sussex Royal.
According to its official website: “Archewell unleashes the power of compassion to drive change through non-profit work & creative activations.”
In line with the couple’s previous work for the Royal Family, Archewell has focused on issues such as gender equality, conservation and mental health.
Projects in recent months have included a partnership with the World Central Kitchen, where the couple have funded four community relief centres in locations such as Mumbai and Puerto Rico.
They have also recently partnered with Women for Afghan Women, to help with the evacuation of thousands of Afghani civilians due to the Taliban takeover of the country.
For her 40th birthday on August 4, Meghan Markle launched her 40×40 initiative, which is aimed at remobilising women whose employment has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a video posted to their website, the Duchess appeared with Hollywood actress Melissa McCarthy, where she spoke of the crisis facing women in the workplace.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, two million women in the US alone have left their jobs.
Meghan said that women have been “shouldering the brunt” of the crisis with the additional burdens of childcare and homeschooling.

Her mission was to ask “40 friends, activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to help kickoff a global effort” by mentoring an unemployed woman for 40 minutes.
Celebrity friends that agreed to take part in the initiative included Adele, Stella McCartney, Princess Eugenie and Hillary Clinton.
Along with their charity work, the couple have also signed a deal worth a reported £100million with Netflix, in which they will produce “informative” and “uplifting” content.
In recent months, Meghan Markle has announced she will executive-produce an animated children’s series that will see a young girl interact with influential women throughout history. Prince Harry has also revealed he is producing a docu-series titled ‘Heart of Invictus’, to follow the competitors and organisers of the 2022 Invictus Games.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently reside in Montecito, California with their two young children, Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana.
