Angela Levin, royal biographer and author of ‘Harry’, suggested the brothers relationship will not easily be foxed, as their “rift seems to be pushing the couples further apart”. Royal experts have alleged Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, wanted to leave the Firm amid tensions with William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge

Ms Levin, in an article questioning whether the royal brothers could heal their relationship, suggested there is a “little chance” of a quick reconciliation.

Pointing to William’s commitment to the Royal Family, she said: “The Duchess of Cambridge, who comes from a very stable loving home, will have no doubt tried to bring the brothers together, but William has been known to hold grudges.

“He adores his grandparents and is likely to have been shocked by Harry’s perceived disrespect towards them.

“He will no doubt also be bracing himself for what else may be revealed by his younger brother and his wife.”

Writing in the Telegraph, Ms Levin continued to reference Harry’s comments to ITV in 2019, where he dismissed rumours of a rift with William.

He said to Tom Bradby at the time: “We’re certainly on different paths at the moment.

“But I’ll always be there for him and, as I know, he’ll always be there for me.”

She noted: “The younger Harry was traditionally always the first of the brothers to make peace with other members of the family, if any disagreement had arisen.”

But Ms Levin concluded her piece by adding: “Sadly, as things stand, the rift seems to be pushing the couples further apart, with little chance of healing.”

It comes as Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey is set to air on Friday, with the Daily Mail reporting there was “mounting concern” from the Royal Family over the sit-down chat.

A source close to William claimed to the outlet the Duke has been “kept in the dark” about the interview.

They said: “Harry and William have not spoken for some time, and Meghan speaking about their relationship or relationships with the Royal Family to Oprah will not help matters.

“Things are still bad between them, although both want to repair that brotherly bond.”

Royal commentator Patricia Treble said: “Oprah is the sort of interviewer who is… you are very relaxed, she is like your mum or grandma, but she gets the answers she is looking for.

“And she is going to be looking for specific answers regarding the relationship with the Royal Family – and regarding Harry, this is Harry’s family.

“And I think that’s probably what has the Royal Family, what has their staff most concerned.

“They are going to be talking about their relationship with Charles, their relationship with Camilla, with the Queen, with Prince Philip – especially with William and Kate.”

Rumours of a rift between Harry and William started in 2018, when the Sussexes announced their move out of Kensington Palace.

Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, royal experts, wrote in their book ‘Finding Freedom’ William’s comments about Meghan when she and Harry started dating infuriated the Duke of Sussex.

They claimed William told his brother “take as much time as you need to get to know this girl”, which enraged Harry.
