The Duke of Sussex praised the monarch and her beloved late husband the Duke of Edinburgh in the BBC documentary on Wednesday. But some Twitter users hit out at Harry – who quit royal duties with Meghan Markle last year for a new life in America – for his comments about the Queen and Philip, who he described as “the most adorable couple”.
One user, @BevFink, blasted: “I know they have to include Harry but it feels a bit weird after he trashed them in prime time tv #PrincePhilip.”
Another Twitter user, @VanBird, commented: “Watching the documentary on Prince Philip.
“How sad that Prince Harry identifies what a wonderful couple Prince Philip and The Queen were dedicating their lives to service and yet went ahead and did the Oprah interview knowing what damage it would cause.”
A third, @jonie1303, hit out: “Harry talking about #PrincePhilip serving as a consort for years, how Philip carried out his royal duties for decades whereas Harry legged it.”
Another Twitter user, @JulieRo68544016, said: “I think it’s very sad that the Duchess of Cambridge was not included, she knew him far longer and she will be our Queen one day.
“Why was Harry included when he has done nothing but trash his upbringing, his family and his country, he walked away he has let everyone down.”
One more, @layla21uk, added: “#PrincePhilip Anyone else boo when Harry appeared?!”
However other Twitter users defended Harry.
One, @snoopsaj, said: “He loves his grandparents that’s enough for me.”
Another user, @Jennife58070281, added: “Well I enjoyed the programme. What it did do was show that the other grandchildren are equally important and cherished and so grounded and I would think that Harry will be missing his family because they have history as children and growing up”
During the BBC documentary, Harry described the Queen and Philip as “the most adorable couple”.
He said: “The two of them together were just the most adorable couple.

“To me knowing the cheekiness of him and knowing that behind what the world sees you have two individuals who were very much in love and both, from a very young age, have dedicated their life to service… that is an incredible bond between two people.”
Harry added: “More than anything I miss his humour but I miss him, I miss him more for my grandmother because I know how incredibly strong she was with him there.
“I also know that she’s gonna be ok without him.”
Harry was among members of the Royal Family paying tribute in Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers.
The Queen and the Duke’s children and adult grandchildren took part in the programme.
Harry’s appearance in the documentary comes as he continues his new life in California with Meghan.
The couple quit as working royals in March 2020 and are now living in Montecito.
They made a series of bombshell claims about the monarchy in their Oprah Winfrey interview in March.
Harry made further controversial comments about his family during appearances in the following weeks, including suggesting Prince Charles, the Queen and Philip had all failed as parents.
