Prince Harry has been mocked in a lengthy comment piece by commentator Jan Moir, where she claims he has changed from “cheeky chappie to woke bloke”. The highly criticial article takes aim at the Duke for using “princesly verbiage” and for using a new “wokespeak” to promote his beliefs.
Writing in the Daily Mail, Ms Moir spoke fondly of the old Harry, who didn’t take himself to seriously.
She said: “Once upon a time there was a prince who lived for drinking beer and watching rugby and sometimes running around in the scuddy, occasionally while playing nude billiards with comely young maidens.
“He was popular, he was kind, he joined the Army to serve his country in Afghanistan and everyone adored him.
“The Harry we used to know and love was a straightforward, straight-talking, two scant A-levels sort of bloke.”
But she said that changed once he met Meghan Markle and his priorities changed dramatically.
Ms Moir said: “Things such as climate change, mental health, social media, mindfulness, raindrops, and myriad other subjects he could lecture us on at length, with passion, ad infinitum.”
She claimed that as he changed, so too did the way he spoke – which the commentator described as “his very own brand of wokespeak”.
She said: “A kind of jargon-led, plum dumb waffle, sugared with an endearing raspberry ripple of his customary mild confusion.

“The result is an Eton mess of words that entrance his fans but utterly bamboozle the rest of us.”
Ms Moir continued: “In the modern manner, he is now an expert at constructing elaborate, airy sentence soufflés that mask the essential nothingness of what he is saying.”
She went on to mock over a dozen of Harry’s recent speeches, tearing apart the language used in each.
Her piece comes after the Duke of Sussex returned to the UK for a fleeting visit this week, to unveil a commemorative statue of his late mother, Princess Diana.

He flew over last Sunday and quarantined for five days at his former Windsor home, Frogmore Cottage.
Harry was able to leave isolation early after receiving a negative Covid test.
This enabled him to attend the WellChilds awards at Kew Gardens on Wednesday night, where he was able to surprise those in receipt of prizes.
The following day he reunited with older brother Prince William to unveil the new statue in the Sunken Gardens of Kensington Palace, one of Diana’s favourite places.
The highly anticipated reunion of the two royal’s went well, with both appearing in high spirits and talking and laughing together.
It comes after the pair’s relationship has deteriorted in recent years.
In 2019 Harry appeared to confirm their rift, when he told ITV they were on “different paths”.
He used this same language in his bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey and added that he and his brother were “space at the moment”.
William later reacted furiously to some of the claims made in the evening, and told a reporter the Royal Family were “very much not a racist family”.
The comment came after Meghan and Harry claimed comments were made over the colour of Archie’s skin.
