The Duke of Sussex stayed at the luxury resort of Vilanculos Beach Lodge during his three-day trip. Harry cuts a casual figure in shorts, a polo shirt, trainers and baseball cap as he poses with another man in a snap shared on Twitter.

The Duke viewed tourist attractions with friends and spoke with the President of the Tourism Association in the area Yassin Amuji during his visit, according to the Instagram account @moz_paparazzi.

He is not thought to have been joined by his wife for the trip to the African nation.

A source told MailOnline that Harry flew to Heathrow on Sunday, where he changed to a connecting flight to Johannesburg.

It comes as Harry and Meghan, who are living in California after quitting royal duties in 2020, are set to return to Britain in September to support “several charities close to their hearts”.

The visit comes amid ongoing tensions between the Sussexes and the royals, while the Duke’s memoir is looming.

The Royal Family has been bracing itself for Harry’s forthcoming tell-all book, which he has vowed will be an “accurate and wholly truthful” account of his life.

The tome was expected to be published in late 2022 but a release date has yet to be confirmed.

There will be concern in royal quarters that Harry will delve into his rift with his older brother Prince William, his troubled relationship with his father Prince Charles, his view of his stepmother Camilla and the Megxit fallout.

Harry and Meghan made a series of claims about the monarchy in their explosive Oprah Winfrey interview in April 2021.

Meanwhile, the visit comes amid the Duke’s legal battle with the Home Office over police protection for his family while in Britain.

It is thought unlikely the couple will bring their children Archie and Lili on the working trip.

The couple will head to Manchester for the One Young World Summit, an event which brings together young leaders from more than 190 countries, on September 5.

Their next stop is Germany for the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 One Year to Go event on September 6.

Harry and Meghan will then return to the UK for the WellChild Awards in London on September 8.

The visit is the first time they have travelled to Britain since the Platinum Jubilee in June.

It falls in the same week the new prime minister is due to be announced and asked to form a Government by the Queen.

The monarch is expected to return to London from her annual summer break at Balmoral to carry out her head of state duties, and it is likely her grandson will want to visit her.

If Harry and Meghan stay at their UK base Frogmore Cottage, they will be just minutes away from William and Kate who are moving to Windsor.

A spokesman for the Sussexes said on Monday: “We are pleased to announce that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit the United Kingdom and Germany during the first week of September this year.

“Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to visit with several charities close to their hearts in early September.”
