Prince Harry’s gesture to mend broken ties with brother Prince William

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are allegedly hoping to fix their broken relationship with the Prince and Princess of Wales with one simple gesture, a report has claimed.

The Sussexes are reportedly desperate to “make amends” with Prince William and Princess Kate as their sour rift rages on, a royal insider has alleged.

Harry and Meghan reportedly believe they can help bandage up the wounds by offering to rent a fancy apartment and have it furnished back in London.

A source told OK! Magazine: “He and Meghan are offering to rent an apartment at Kensington Palace and furnish it themselves.

“He hopes that will please William and show that they’re serious about coming back. Harry doesn’t want to become a prisoner of the palace.”

But other insiders have previously claimed that damage has already been done and a simple gesture such as this one may not be enough to fix the brotherly bond.

An insider told the Daily Mail: “All relationships are built on trust but for members of the royal family, who live their life in the spotlight, doubly so.

“The Prince [of Wales] is a very private man and what Harry is doing is the anathema of everything he believes. On that alone, many believe it is unlikely he will ever be able to repair his relationship with them. Too much water has gone under the bridge.”

In 2018, after Harry and Meghan married, rumours began to swirl that there was a rift between them and William and Kate.

It was fuelled by the fact that the Sussexes had moved from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate.

Vanity Fair’s royal editor Katie Nicholl explained that they had actually fallen out over the Christmas of 2017 because Harry was disappointed with William’s treatment towards Meghan.

But the bitter brotherly feud first began to dominate headlines when the Sussexes step back from their duties as senior royals and relocated to a life across the pond in 2020.

Sources claimed left William “really sad and genuinely shocked”.

In the Harry & Meghan Netflix docu-series, released last year, Harry said he was stunned by William shouting at him during a meeting where the Royal Family discussed the couple stepping back.

In the book, Harry alleges he was physically attacked by William in 2019.

The Duke claimed that William grabbed him by the collar, ripped his necklace and threw him to the floor during a row about Meghan.

In 2021, the Sussexes’ biographer Omid Scobie said: “The relationship between Harry and William is still very much one of distance. I don’t just mean physical [distance], across the Atlantic, but they are not talking that much, and that is exactly how sources close to William have put it.”
