Future monarch Prince William made his cousin Zara Tindall the godmother of his son Prince George, seven. Born on July 22, 2013, George was the first child of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge. A few months later George, who is third in line to the British throne, was christened.
On October 23, 2013, the little Prince was christened at The Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace in London, by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.
On this day, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealed they had named Zara as one of George’s godparents.
Oliver Baker, David Jardine-Paterson, Earl Grosvenor, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, The Hon Mrs Michael Samuel and William van Cutsem were also chosen.
And the following year, Zara is thought to have repaid the great honour.
Mia Grace Tindall, Zara and her husband, former rugby player Mike Tindall’s, first child, was born on January 17, 2014.
Although it’s hasn’t been officially confirmed, it’s assumed Prince William is the godfather of young Mia.
Buckingham Palace told Express.co.uk Mia’s godparents were a “private matter” and declined to comment.
However, William is believed to be a safe bet, according to royal author and expert Marlene Koenig.
She said: “[Previously written] articles for the baptism for Mia do not name godparents, but Prince William attended as did Iain Balshaw.”
Iain Balshaw is an English former rugby union player and is close friends with Mike.
Ms Koenig said: “One can assume that William was godfather as he attended the baptism.
“He’s unlikely to have gone if he were not. The same goes for Iain Balshaw.”

Prince William and Zara are known to be close and the fact their eldest children were born just a year apart, means there’s been some play dates.
Last year, the Tindalls and the Cambridges were pictured at the Burnham Market Horse Trials in Norfolk.
Prince George and Mia were seen laughing as they appeared to square up and compared their heights.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Tindalls spent the day watching Zara compete in the trials.
Zara is a former silver medal Olympian and well known for her equestrian skills.
During the family day out, Mia was picked up by Prince William to get a better view of the trials, revealing a close bond between the two.
It’s also thought William’s brother Prince Harry is the godfather of Zara and Mike’s youngest daughter Lena, who was born in 2018.
Pronounced Lay-na, she is the seventh great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip and 19th in line to the throne.
