Prince William, 39, revealed he had his first engagement of 2022 yesterday by hosting an investiture ceremony at the Queen’s Berkshire home of Windsor Castle. A post uploaded to William and Kate Middleton’s joint social media account said: “As The Duke conducts his first investiture of 2022 today, we shine a light on the inspirational individuals who have achieved great heights in their sporting fields and brought communities together through sport.
“Congratulations to all!”
The investiture ceremony, which is a longstanding tradition, sees members of the Royal Family hand out medals to individuals.
The Duke of Cambridge, who donned his military uniform for the ceremony, spent Wednesday giving medals to some notable sportsmen and women.
William even knighted ex-West Indies captain Clive Lloyd, 77, and Irish-born former England captain Eoin Morgan, 35, received a CBE.

Snooker star Reanne Evans, 36, and Derrick Evans, 69, were also handed MBEs.
The Duke’s post celebrating the investiture ceremony was warmly received on social media.
It received 3,700 likes on Twitter and an extra 150,000 on Instagram.
