The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary as well as their daughter, Princess Charlotte’s sixth birthday. The couple have been touring Scotland where they opened a hospital in Orkney and also paid a visit to the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit (SVDR) in Cockenzie, to meet with young people and volunteers. Kate even had an opportunity to create her own techno beat and showed off her djing skills. And they both visited St Andrews University, where they met as first-year students.

The trip must have brought back memories particularly for William as he almost dropped out of his course but, according to royal correspondent Duncan Larcombe, the young prince suddenly had a change of heart.

In the documentary ‘William and Kate: A Real Love Story’ Mr Larcombe said: “From Prince William’s point of view his decision to go to uni quite quickly became a nightmare for him and he almost nearly dropped out.

“To a point where he was speaking to his advisors and said ‘I do not want to be here, I do not want to carry on with this course and again, this was in a period when the press gave them their space so that they could carry on with their education.

“But I think in hindsight I think his sudden interest in Kate resurrected his desire to see his degree through at St Andrews.”

William did indeed struggle initially and it is said Kate convinced him to stick at it, albeit he did change course from History of Art to Geography.

Prince Charles also spoke to his son and encouraged him to carry on with his studies.

Mr Larcombe added: “The story that has become the stuff of legend now is that moment which has become a part of British history is when Kate Middleton – as an undergraduate at St Andrews University walked out, taking part in a charity fashion show.

“She walked down the catwalk to a bright-eyed Prince William and those pictures obviously exist but she was wearing… let’s say not leaving much to the imagination.”

Kate is currently trending on social media with fans praising her attempt to DJ as well as her fashion sense and the displays of affection fans have seen from William.

One user wrote “I think it is wonderful to watch Kate and William meeting kids in Scotland, it reminded me of Diana’s smile.
