Princess Beatrice wedding date: When will Beatrice get married? Has a new date been set?

Coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, China in December 2019, but as cases continue to increase around the world, the World Health Organization declared the virus a pandemic earlier this month. As the UK has introduced more stringent measures to tackle the virus, there have been many concerns for the risk Princess Beatrice’s upcoming wedding may pose.

Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi announced their plan to marry on May 29.

Plans for the wedding included a small gathering at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, followed by a reception at Buckingham Palace.

The reception was due to be hosted by the Queen herself, who is due to turn 94 this year.

But since the date of Beatrice’s upcoming nuptials was announced, the number of coronavirus cases in the UK has continued to rise.

Thousands of people have tested positive for the disease, which has led the Government to introduce a number of social distancing measures.

People are advised not to attend public gatherings, and to avoid all non-essential contact.

And the advice has even stretched to weddings, with the Church of England recently announcing it will restrict all weddings to allow a maximum of five people to attend.

In light of the current pandemic, it was announced last week that Edoardo and Beatrice are “reviewing” the arrangements for their wedding.

When will Princess Beatrice get married?

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi are very much looking forward to getting married but are equally aware of the need to avoid undertaking any unnecessary risks in the current circumstances.

“In line with government advice for the UK and beyond, the couple are reviewing their arrangements for 29 May.

“They are particularly conscious of government advice in relation to both the wellbeing of older family members and large gatherings of people.

“Therefore, the planned reception in the Buckingham Palace Gardens will not take place.

“The couple will carefully consider government advice before deciding whether a private marriage might take place amongst a small group of family and friends.”

In addition to concerns over public gatherings at the current time, should a wedding go ahead there are also worries over travel restrictions.

Countries across Europe, including the UK, have implemented travel restrictions to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The current measures would mean wedding guests of the couple would encounter trouble in flying over for the event.

Some members of Edoardo’s family are from the Lombardy region of northern Italy, which is currently one of the regions worst-hit by the COVID-19 outbreak in the world.

Has a new date been set?

There has not yet been an announcement from Buckingham Palace that Beatrice’s upcoming wedding date has been changed.

However, some reports are suggesting the nuptials will be moved to 2021.

As the UK’s coronavirus situation continues to develop, details surrounding Princess Beatrice’s wedding will likely be subject to change.
