Ahead of the special day, Kate Middleton, and Prince William shared a cute new picture of the young princess to celebrate the occasion. The candid head-and-shoulders picture, taken by Kate this weekend in Norfolk, shows a beaming Charlotte in a blue floral dress.

The Rachel Riley floral outfit has pink buttons with frills running down the dress and across the collar.

On Twitter, fans of the Royal Family expressed their love of the picture and wished the young Princess a happy birthday, with one saying: “It’s just lovely to see this pretty Princess growing up so happy, healthy with her loving family.

“Bless them and keep them healthy and safe. Happy Birthday Princess Charlotte.”

Another said: “Omg she is all grown up and sooo blond such a beautiful little lady!”

One more suggested Charlotte was “the spitting image of her dad” and inherited her mum’s green eyes.

The latest snap seems to follow a tradition for the future King and Queen who usually post a fresh picture of their kids on or just before their birthdays.

On April 22, an image of Prince Louis was shared by the proud parents in honour of their youngest child turning three years old.

In that picture, Prince Louis was pictured riding a small red bike without stabilisers.

He wore a striped collared shirt under a navy blue jumper, sky blue shorts and had matching blue shoes with three yellow stripes.

The latest stunning picture comes days after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.

The family shared an adorable short video clip showing all members of the family playing outside their Norfolk home.

In the clip, the Duke and Duchess and their kids ran on the beach, toasted marshmallows and climbed trees although one body language expert suggested the video felt “overly scripted”.

Body language expert, Jason Lee told that “The video feels aggressively scripted to me when you look at William and Kate’s expressions.

“But maybe that’s the price of poker and the way things are done when you’re famous.”
