Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive two-hour interview with Oprah Winfrey has divided public opinion on the Royal Family. The Duke of Sussex claimed his father Charles does not return his calls and that Prince William is “trapped”. Royal biographer Andrew Morton has since claimed that Princess Diana would not have supported the interview.

Speaking to talkRADIO, Mr Morton said: “He wasn’t just attacking an institution. He was also attacking his brother and his father.

“Diana attacked her ex-husband, Prince Charles.

“He’s featured in all these major historic TV interviews when he talked about his own adultery, then the Panorama one and now this one.

“He is always the bad guy.

“I don’t think she would have approved of Harry calling his brother ‘trapped’ in his situation because he’s not supposed to throw his brother under the bus.

“Harry is supposed to be there, as she always used to say to me, as a back up in the nicest possible way.”

His comments come as Diana’s former bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, hit out at Meghan and Harry’s interview.

The Duchess of Sussex suggested it was her son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor’s “birthright” to be a prince and the decision not to give him a title went against convention.

She expressed her shock at being told he would not get security and the idea of him “not being safe”, and said she wanted him to have the title so he could have police protection.

But the former protection officer has said her comments were “not correct”.

Speaking to 60 minutes Australia, Mr Wharfe said: “Not one single member of the Royal Family at that sort of age gets individual protection.

“What happens is they become part of their parents’ protection in the same way that William and Harry did with Diana and Charles.

“Archie would have been protected as a member of the Royal Family.

“With regards to the title, already the Queen had bestowed upon him this title the Earl fo Dumbarton.

“The whole point is that was quite ill-conceived on Meghan’s part because what she was saying wasn’t correct.”

Meghan also suggested that the decision was taken because of Archie’s race.
