Princess Eugenie celebrated her 31st birthday on Tuesday, and the milestone was a particularly important one as it was her first since becoming a mother. The Queen’s granddaughter gave birth to her son August Philip Hawke on February 9 and has been settling into motherhood at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor ever since.
While Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank are understood to be in a bubble with Sarah Ferguson, 60, and Prince Andrew, 61, who live nearby, the new mum is unlikely to have seen her big sister Princess Beatrice, 32, for weeks.
Beatrice lives in London with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and is a stepmother to his four-year-old son, Christopher Woolf, who she has helped to look after during lockdown.
Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown has already seen a gentle easing of some COVID-19 restrictions. But under the current regulations, Beatrice will not have been able to travel to Windsor to meet Eugenie and Baby August yet.
When will Eugenie and Beatrice get to reunite?
If the Government’s lockdown easing continues to go ahead as planned, then Beatrice and Eugenie may be able to meet before the end of the month.
The current guidelines state that if infections continue to fall, then from March 29, outdoor gatherings of up to six people or two separate households will be permitted.
The Government website states: “Outdoor gatherings (including in private gardens) of either six people (the Rule of six) or two households will also be allowed, making it easier for friends and families to meet outside.”
This means that Beatrice could travel to meet Eugenie as early as next Monday.
Eugenie is a keen Instagram user and has delighted fans with photo updates of her son August following his birth.
Earlier this month, the Princess marked Mother’s Day with an adorable new photo of her son lying on a baby blanket surrounded by daffodils.
The post read: “I’m so excited to be August’s mum and as you can see I’m enjoying my first Mother’s Day.
“I’m also celebrating my beautiful Mumma with this picture of us from March 1990. You’ve taught me so much.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all.”
On Tuesday, Royal Family members including the Queen reached out to wish Eugenie a happy birthday.

The Royal Family’s tweeted an official birthday message to Eugenie which read: “Wishing Princess Eugenie a very happy birthday today!”
Eugenie’s mum Sarah Ferguson also paid tribute to her on Instagram.
She wrote: “Happy Birthday dearest Eugenie.
“When I see the colour of spring, I think of your birth and what a gift you are. Budding with colour and love xx.”
While Eugenie is not a working royal, her son August is 11th in line to the throne and is expected to have a traditional royal christening in the coming months.
Eugenie and Jack have been based at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s UK home since before Christmas.
The property is understood to be on loan to the couple from the Sussexes, who are now based in California.
Eugenie could choose to have August christened at St George’s Chapel in Windsor where she and Jack got married.
