Meghan Markle, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, will cease to be senior royals from this evening and have bid farewell to their millions of Sussex Royal social media followers with a heartfelt message. The couple told fans they “may not see us here” amid the coronavirus crisis, which has prompted speculation another royal may step up.
Meghan and Harry have settled in Los Angeles where they hope to pursue a “more peaceful life”.
Unlike other royals including Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and even the Queen, who have shared new photos and videos of themselves on social media in recent weeks, Prince Harry and Meghan have kept a very low profile amid the coronavirus crisis, and only shared slogans and advice via their Instagram account.
Now the couple have said goodbye to their Sussex Royal account there is space for a new royal Instagrammer to emerge and given her current form on social media, it could be Princess Eugenie.
Princess Eugenie has 1.1 million Instagram followers and has made several sweet posts in recent weeks, suggesting she may be the one to take on Meghan’s Instagram crown.

One royal commentator branded Meghan and Harry’s Instagram farewell to fans “lacklustre” and claimed the couple could have done more to boost morale in recent weeks.
Before their final post on Monday royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “However logical leaving Britain for Canada and then leaving Canada for Hollywood may seem to them, their contribution to helping those afflicted and those feeling threatened by COVID-19 has been limited to a few Instagram posts which are worth little.”
Having read their farewell Instagram message he added: “Their farewell on Instagram had a lacklustre feel but it could be the prelude to anything. Their fans online are totally supportive.
“The facts simply are that they are two of the biggest names on the planet.
“They have opted out of its most high profile royal family.
“The indications are that they will set up sort of charity, certainly Harry’s record with Sentebale, Invictus and Heads Together is truly amazing. Meghan is now at home, in Hollywood.”
