The Queen is facing her “annus horribilis” with one blow after the other damaging the Monarchy’s reputation. A royal journalist has claimed that the Queen refrained from stripping Prince Andrew’s royal titles and military associations despite his ongoing court case and having stepped away from public duties. However, Prince Harry’s titles were stripped when he “stepped down” from the role as senior royal member.

Emily Nash, a royal Editor Hello Magazine told Channel 5 royal documentary ‘2021: The Queen’s Horrible Year: “While he continues to hold some military associations, even though they’re in abeyance, questions are being asked about it, especially given that Prince Harry has lost his. “

Journalist Yasmin-Alibhai Brown, added: “She should have excluded him from not just public life, from his position in the palaces, right? She didn’t do that.

“Surely that was something she should have been seen to do.

Nigel Cawthorne, Andrew’s biographer answered the Pod Save the Queen host Ann Gripper on whether the Queen may deprive her second son of his title and money if he does not return to royal duties.

He said: “The Queen and Prince Philip and Charles, they are aware of the responsibility they have and obviously modify their behaviour, they can’t behave like he does.

“He doesn’t have any responsibilities, he just gets money for nothing.

“And I wonder whether that’s going to continue, because when the Sussexes quit royal duties they lost their HRHs and no longer took money from the privy purse.

“Now he’s retired from public duties, is he going to get rid of the title and not take the money?

“Or the money wont be given to him? Let’s see how that plays out.”

In late 2019, the Times reported: “Buckingham Palace has made clear that Prince Andrew is keeping his military commands despite the growing disquiet in the ranks.”

She said: “I think the difference is that Harry and Meghan have some good pulling power and credibility and everybody will be clamouring to sign them up and use them for forces for good.

“Whereas Andrew is now a toxic prospect until and unless he can deal with these allegations and clear his name and put them behind him.”

ITV’s royal correspondent Chris Ship has claimed that the Queen doesn’t feel the need to strip her son’s military honours as he hasn’t been “proven guilty” and in accordance with British law,  “anyone is innocent until proven guilty”.

The Monarch has been branded as “hypocrite” in the past for not stripping off royal titles for Prince Andrew but Prince Harry who “stepped down” from the role of senior royal member was stripped of several honours including being the patron for Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League.
