Queen delivers her Christmas Day speech for 2020
Eugenie, who is expecting her first child with husband Jack Brooksbank in early 2021, took to social media to reveal the moments during the monarch’s annual televised speech that “touched” her. Sharing a picture of the Queen, she said: “Your Majesty, Granny, your words meant so much today and at the end of a year that has tested the world in so many ways.”
Eugenie then included a number of quotes from the Queen’s message which “touched” her.
The first quote said: “In the United Kingdom and around the world, people have risen magnificently to the challenges of the year, and I am so proud and moved by this quiet, indomitable spirit.”
The second was: “Of course for many, this time of year will be tinged with sadness – some mourning the loss of those dear to them and others missing friends and family members distanced for safety, when all they really want for Christmas is a simple hug or a squeeze of the hand.”
The third read: “If you are among them, you are not alone, and let me assure you of my thoughts and prayers.”

Speaking from Windsor Castle, the Queen delivered a personal message of hope to the country in her Christmas address.
She said: “Remarkably, a year that has necessarily kept people apart has, in many ways, brought us closer.”
The monarch gave the speech from a desk in the Green Drawing Room where the only family photo on show was a portrait of Prince Philip, who she has been staying at her Berkshire residence with.
The Royal Family usually spends Christmas at Sandringham in Norfolk.
But they were unable to this year due to coronavirus rules.
The Queen spent the day quietly at Windsor Castle with the Duke of Edinburgh.
