Her Majesty received a huge cheer from the large crowd at the Berkshire racecourse as she presented the winner’s trophy to jockey Jim Crowley for riding Baaeed to victory in a race named after her, the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

The 95-year-old has used a walking stick at recent engagements but left it with an aide who was walking closely behind her.

She wore black gloves with her coat buttoned up as she watched the races on the 10th Champions Day, which has become one of the most prestigious events in the sporting calendar.
