The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who quit royal duties for a new life in California – were in the Big Apple a week ago for a series of engagements, including meeting the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General and giving a speech at the Global Citizen Live concert. But Sky News Australia host Alan Jones hit out at the couple and their “do-gooder activities”.

He said: “These two are truly insufferable.

“The latest, a trip to New York for a bunch of do-gooder activities.

“One was to visit the United Nations to have a meeting with the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General.

“Honestly, on what basis are these two non-working members of the Royal Family meeting any politician or world leader?”

Mr Jones also slammed the pair for speaking out on the Covid pandemic and climate change.

He said: “I mean, the whole world is fed up with these two and their preaching.

“I thought they wanted to live a quiet life out of the limelight. I think we wish they did.”

Express has contacted the Sussexes’ representatives for comment.

Harry and Meghan are ‘writing their own rulebook’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “writing their own rulebook” with their “celebrity royal” status, according to a royal expert.

Grant Harrold, a royal etiquette expert, told “Harry and Meghan leaving the Royal Family as working royals, have now become ‘celebrity royals’ as that’s the way we now have to describe them.

“They’re still royals, and still hold their titles but they are very much celebrities.

“They’re probably the very first celebrity royals in their own right.”
