The Royal Family have been enjoying holidays over the past few weeks with the Queen and Prince Philip in Scotland and several travelling up to visit them. Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and their three children enjoyed a staycation in July. But what will the Cambridge clan get up to this bank holiday weekend?

Kate, William and the three Cambridge children spent the duration of the coronavirus pandemic at their country home of Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

The couple then took their three children to spend several days on the Isles of Scilly off the Cornish coast this week.

William and Kate were seen cycling together across the Isle of Tresco and greeted locals as they passed them.

One holidaymaker said: “William and Kate were riding their bicycles, having a laugh. They looked so happy enjoying the weather.”

William and Kate chose to undertake a getaway to the Isle of Scilly to support the nation’s travel industry which has been hard hit during the crisis.

A source said: “They decided on a quick getaway before the children return to school.”

They added: “They were keen to support our travel industry.”

The couple has a strong connection to the island.

Prince William visited the island with his late mother Princess Diana as a child.

Furthermore, it is believed the couple visited the Cornish coast following their 2011 wedding.

William and Kate visited the Isles of Scilly in 2016, during which William reminisced about his visit as a child.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte will return to school alongside other children across the country in September.

This bank holiday weekend will the penultimate weekend the family share together before returning to school.

The two eldest Cambridge children are due to return to school during the week commencing Monday, September 7.

The children’s last day of school was on Friday, March 20, meaning they return to school now after five and a half months of remote learning and homeschooling with their parents.

Where will the Cambridge family be this weekend?

The family are expected to return to London ahead of their children returning to school.

Given they must be in London before September 7, it makes sense for the family to travel back next week or over next weekend.

This means this weekend is the last holiday weekend they likely have together before they prepare for the new school year.

The Cambridge family have always intended to visit the Queen and Prince Philip at Balmoral this year according to a royal expert.

Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl said Prince Charles, 71, is “looking forward” to spending time with the Cambridges during a “family holiday” in Scotland in August after five months apart.

She wrote: “Prince Charles will be on engagements in the south-west of the country on George’s birthday, but is looking forward to spending time with all his grandchildren when the Cambridges head to Scotland for a family holiday next month.”

This is the last weekend where this is possible so it is likely the family will journey up to visit them over this bank holiday weekend, potentially spending part of next weekend in Scotland as well.
