Boris Johnson has once again defended the position of his chief aide today, as he stepped in to helm the Government’s daily press conference in a vital test of his accountability. The Prime Minister briefly addressed the 48-hour furore this afternoon before revealing the Government has chosen to press on with plans to reopen schools.
Which school years will go back to school?
Schools reopening intentions in the UK will continue as planned, according to Mr Johnson, who announced a “phased” reopening a week on Monday.
The Prime Minister has outline the first pupils to return will be those of early years classes, namely nursery and pre-school, Reception and Years 1 and 6.
However, several councils have announced they cannot guarantee this by the allotted date.
