If you search ‘loser’ in the search bar of Twitter, you’ll find Donald Trump.
People have been mentioning the president with that word so much that they have now become linked on the platform.
He probably won’t like this at all.
It’s not something that Twitter has done intentionally, but is down to the website’s algorithm.
‘If an account is mentioned often alongside certain terms, they can become algorithmically surfaced together as an association,’ a spokesperson for Twitter told BuzzFeed.
‘These associations are temporary and ever-changing based on how people tweet.’
He tweeted: ‘I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT!’
Twitter intervened in this tweet to add a statement underneath flagging that this was not true.
They said: ‘Democratic nominee Joe Biden has defeated President Trump in the 2020 presidential election as he secured the 270 electoral college votes required to win the race, according to projections by The Associated Press, NBC News and other news outlets.
‘In a victory speech on Saturday Biden said: “I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide, but unify. Who doesn’t see red states and blue states, only sees the United States.”
‘Trump also released a statement: “The simple fact is this election is far from over.”‘
