The Duchess of Cambridge, 40, had some tips for Princess Charlotte, six, when she started at school. Kate’s daughter joined Prince George, eight, at Thomas’s Battersea in 2019.

Charlotte made the move after attending Willcocks Nursery in Kensington.

Her first day is considered a huge moment for all children as it marks the first significant step in their education.

However, the Mirror reports Charlotte’s first day was also a massive moment for her mother.

Kate, who had been educated at Marlborough College in Wiltshire, missed George’s first day as she was ill with Hyperemesis Gravidarum as her and Prince William, 39, awaited for the arrival of their third child.

But the Duchess’ smile beamed while she and William dropped off Charlotte and George in 2019.

Charlotte, who walked slightly behind her mother as the Cambridges approached the school, even shook hands with the head of the lower school.

As the family continued to approach the school entrance, Kate was heard offering her daughter some words of support.

She said: “George will have to lead the way.”

George had been at St Thomas’s for two years before his sister joined him at the £19,965-a-year independent school.

A royal expert has also claimed he is very protective of a younger sister.

Royal biographer Penny Junor told Hello: “Prince George is a very protective and lovely older brother.

“I’m sure he’ll look after his little sister and take great pride in showing her the ropes.”

However, Charlotte’s first day was not the only occasion the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been at the school.

A royal source told OK magazine: “She [Kate] comes from a supportive family so she’s very keen on family networks and networks of friends and organisations.

“As parents they are also very good at rolling up their sleeves and helping out with school events; sports days, fundraisers and that sort of thing.”

The source added: “They try to be just like normal parents with normal parenting challenges.”
