The Duchess of Sussex, 40, revealed the story of her, Prince Harry and one other royal sneaking out for “one fun night on the town” during her interview with Ellen DeGeneres, 63. ‘Finding Freedom’ co-author Omid Scobie shared the exchange from Markle’s sit-down interview on Twitter.

When asked about their “post-apocalypse” night out in 2016, Meghan Markle said: “He came to see me in Toronto and our friends and his cousin Eugenie and now her husband Jack, they came as well, and the four of us snuck out in Halloween costumes to just have one fun night on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple.”

The Duchess chuckled: “It was a post-apocalypse theme, so we had all this very bizarre costuming on, and we were able to just have one fun final night out.”

Following the party in 2016, Princess Eugenie, 31, and Jack Brooksbank, 35, tied the knot at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in October 2018.

This came just months after Ms Markle and Prince Harry, 37, were pronounced husband and wife at the same venue.

Earlier this year, Prince Andrew’s younger daughter sent her well wishes to the Duchess of Sussex for her 40th birthday.

In an Instagram post, she wrote: “To celebrate dear Meghan’s 40th birthday I’m contributing 40 minutes of mentorship to support women re-entering the workforce.

“In the past two years, tens of millions of women around the world have departed the workforce.

“If you can, please join me and commit 40 minutes to community, service, or mentorship.”

The relationship between Meghan and Eugenie was also discussed during the Sussexes’ interview with Oprah Winfrey, 67.

Ms Markle told Winfrey: “Eugenie and I had known each other before I had known Harry, so that was comfortable.”

Speaking about Eugenie and Jack, she added: “We’re friends with them as a couple.”

According to MailOnline, the relationship between Harry and Eugenie is also particularly strong.

While the pair were snapped with their siblings on a childhood holiday in 1995, the Duke of Sussex was also said to have stayed with Eugenie and Jack at Frogmore when he returned to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral and for the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue.

There was however said to be a blip in the relationship between the two couples when Eugenie was described as being “hurt” by Meghan’s pregnancy announcement.

The Telegraph reports the Firm were informed about Sussexes’ good news during Eugenie’s wedding reception.

It is then said the news went public the day after the ceremony in October 2018.

Ellen, who is a neighbour and friend of Meghan, responded to the Duchess’ Halloween party story by saying: “Now there are people at home going ‘I was at that party’.

“I’m sure they’re like ‘I was at the post-apocalyptic party, which ones were they?’”.

She added: “We kept saying this Halloween, this is your chance, you can go out, you can get dressed up and actually go out, but y’all chose to stay home this year.”

Meghan replied: “We were home and we saw you guys, which was great.

“But no, we wanted to do something fun for the kids and then the kids were just not into it at all.

“Archie was a dinosaur for maybe five minutes.”

“Not even five minutes,” Ellen quipped.

The TV host added: “Harry talked him into putting the head on but Lili was a skunk.

“It was so cute.”

Meghan Markle’s interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show aired in the US on CBS at 8pm.

It will be broadcast on ITV2 within a week of its US release.
