Two young children and woman killed in crash between campervan and lorry

Two young children are among three victims of a horror crash in North Yorkshire, police say.

A six-year-old boy has also been taken to hospital with a serious head injury, while a 48-year-old man was been hospitalised with serious – but not life threatening – injuries.

The incident involved an heavy goods vehicle and a motor home on the A64 at around 8pm on Tuesday night.

Three passengers in the motor home, a 44-year-old woman, a nine-year-old girl and a five year old boy, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

The injured boy was also a passenger in the vehicle, which the injured man was driving.

Meanwhile, the HGV driver was uninjured in the collision around Jinnah restaurant near York.

Emergency services closed the road for more than 10 hours between Barton le Willows and Flaxton.

North Yorkshire Police urged people with information to get in touch.

In a statement, the force said: ‘Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any Dashcam footage of the incident or was travelling in the area at the time, is asked to contact police.

‘Dial 101, press 2 and ask to speak to PC Nicola Gill or Sergeant Kirsten Aldridge, or email [email protected] or [email protected]

The incident came the day after a horrifying three-vehicle pile up on the M25, which left three dead and another fighting for their life in hospital.
